Marco Abarca, Seven with One Blow

Marco Abarca
Seven with One Blow
2009

Pucker Gallery

1980 - 1985   Faculty in Fine Arts, Veracruz University, Xalapa City, Veracruz, Mexico
At age 18, Marco entered the University of Veracruz at Xalapa and studied art and sculpture. He graduated in 1985 and started painting and sculpting. Marco moved around a lot (like the circus) until he found Oaxaca and decided to stay. He was taken with the beauty, the culture, the light and the serenity of the city. Marco's inspiration continues to be his childhood experiences. He says he is always in search of the child within himself. Circuses remain a frequent theme in his work but he now also experiments more with building wooden marionettes.
